The Princess and the Pea

I can't tell you how happy I have been to have so many visitors lately and some new added followers! Since we are enjoying an extra day off this weekend, with the holiday, I figured I would also take a break from the usual routine and post one of my most fun projects! As I perpare for the Fif's birthday, I can't help myself from thinking about what was happening this time last year. I was putting together a Japanese tea party style birthday get together and at the last minute, decided to make this Princess and the Pea set as one of the Fif's gifts.

Confession: I was suffereing from a case of Soulemama envy and was sewing and crafting like a complete maniac for many a month. I will admit, it was pretty over the top; I even made the birthday girl's dress and a skirt for myself to wear for the party! The birthday celebration was a success, however this little item went into the closet. Why? You see, everytime I saw this Princess and the Pea bag, I was reminded of the terrible morning {all day} sickness I was feeling, being newly pregnant time that I made it. I could not look at a sewing machine for close to a year without feeling a bit nauseous.

So to say I was pleased when I went to fetch this from the closet last week and did not immediately think of gignger ale and lemon drops would be a huge understatement. The Fif and I sat down to play and read The Princess and the Pea by Lauren Child, {one of my favourite books} and to tell the truth, I think she likes it even more now then when I had originally made it!

Hope you are enjoying your holiday weekend!
